1. Knowledge objectives:

Learn how to talk about clothing and the prices.

3. Moral objectives:

Students should know the importance of saving money and respect parents’ hard work.

Step 1 Warming-up

Daily greetings. T: Good afternoon, boys and girls! How are you today?

Listen to a song. T: First, let’s listen to a song “How much is it?” Again! This time, let’s sing after it.

Quick responses. T: You’re going to see some pictures on the screen. Please stand up as quickly as you can. The quickest one has the right to say the English words. Our competition is between boys and girls. If you are right, you can get a bell for your Christmas tree. Ready? Go!

T: Look! Where is she? Ss: She’s in a shop. T: Today, we’re going to learn Unit 7 How much are these socks? Let’s come to the new words.

Step 2 Presentation

Teach the new words: socks, T-shirt, shorts, sweater, trousers, shoes, skirt.

T: Please read these new words after me.

Step 3 Practice

T: This time, you read these words together. Every word twice.

T: Now, read the words one by one.

T: Now, read group by group.

T: Great! Can you read them by yourselves? If you have any question, please hands up.

T: OK, time’s up! Who’d like to read for us?

T: Now, I point, you read together!

T: Boys and girls, attention! Can you see any difference between these two groups?

Step 4 Game: quick responses.

T: You’re going to see some pictures on the screen. If it’s a picture, please say the English word. If it’s an English word, please read it. And if it’s a Chinese word, please put it into English. The quickest one has the right to answer.

Step 5 Work on 1a and 1b.

T: Please open your books and turn to page 37. Look at 1a: match the words with the things in the picture.

Then check the answers.

T: Listen and circle the words you hear in the picture.

Teach “dollars” and “RMB”.

Listen again and fill in the blanks in the handouts. Then check the answers and read the dialogue together.

Step 6 Presentation

Teach the conversations in 1c

Step 7 Practice

Look and say. T: Please look at the pictures and fill in the blanks.

Pair work. Students ask and answer about prices of clothes.

Competition. T: You’re going to see seven numbers on the screen. Each number stands for a task. Please choose a partner to finish the task together.

Step 8 Summary

T: Let’s see what we’ve learned today.

New words: socks, T-shirt, shorts, sweater, trousers, shoes, skirt.

T: Please choose the right answers.

Step 9 Follow-up: Group work

Students work in groups and make dialogues using sentences they’ve learned.

T: Now, let’s see who the winners are.

Step 10 Homework

Copy the words and sentences.

Go on to make dialogues in pairs or in groups.

Reflections

本堂课的话题贴近生活,学生很感兴趣。游戏、结对活动、小组活动等形式多样,学生参与度高,气氛活跃。对教材进行了充分挖掘,对词、句操练充分,训练面广,学生对知识点的掌握程度较好。

不足之处:指令的语速应该放慢一些;选号完成任务竞赛中的任务可增大一些难度,让不同层次的学生均能有成就感。
